Grand Rapids, Mich. — The Aquinas College Rocket League team returned to play on Friday (Oct. 18) with an 8:30 p.m. kickoff with Cleary. After the teams split the two opening games, Cleary outlasted AQ in the remaining bouts, with just a single goal advantage in each. With time expiring, AQ fell just short of the Cougars with a 3-1 finish.
Cleary 3, Aquinas 1
The best of five conference bout began sternly as both teams looked to out edge the other. The teams traded back-and-forth, but Cleary survived with a single goal advantage of 4-3 to take the first.
AQ snapped back and had a more commanding presence in the second as they were the ones to take it home, evening the score. AQ took the game 2-1.
The third game returned to the back-and-forth, Cleary once again just out paced the Saints and took the game 3-2 going up 2-1 in the series.
The contest remained close in the fourth game of the contest, here the Cougars managed to claw down on defense and hold tight. AQ was unable to draw out to overtime. CU took the fourth game with a 2-1 score line, giving them the 3-1 victory overall.
