Men's Hockey Falters to #13 GVSU

AQ finds only one goal against Lakers

Hudsonville, Mich. — The Aquinas College men's ice hockey team traveled to Hudsonville, Michigan, to compete with No. 13-rated Grand Valley State Lakers at the Griff's Georgetown Ice Arena. The Saints trailed after the first but continued to push. Unfortunately, AQ was bested and the Lakers stayed on top of the contest winning 5-1 in the first game of the two-game series.

The first period belonged to the Lakers as they found two goals. AQ had their own respective attempts but were unable to secure one within the posts to tally a score. At the horn of the first, AQ trailed 2-0.

The Lakers found another goal as they capitalized on a power play. However, this time AQ went on to find a rebuttal as Evan Doan collected an unassisted goal, his collegiate first.

No goals were found in the remainder of the second period.

The Lakers held their grip on the contest and held it going into the third. GVSU went on to collect two more goals in the period.

AQ valiantly made their attempts up and down the ice but no goal was found.

The final horn sounded, giving #13 GVSU the 5-1 victory in game one.
