#4 Aquinas Brings the Heat to the Blue Devils

AQ claims another shut out to advance to 10-0 on the season

Southfield, Mich. — The No. 4-rated Aquinas College women's soccer team made way for Blue Devils Stadium to take on Lawrence Tech on Wednesday (Oct. 9). LTU managed to keep the Saints quiet as both teams entered the half at a scoreless draw. But the Saints finally found their tone and raised the pitch and went on to score four goals in the second half, in addition to keeping the Blue Devils scoreless.

With the initial whistle the contest was off to its start as the teams began to look for openings and gaps within the oppositions framework.

AQ had heavy possession of the first half, but to the credit of the Blue Devils they managed to keep the game to a scoreless draw going into halftime.

AQ took their first half notes to the drawing board at halftime and returned with a renewed vigor as Savannah Reese found the first goal of the contest in the 47th minute, with a pass from Maeva Lichtensteiger

The Saints renewed game plan showed true as Marie-Louise Abild netted the second goal of the evening right at the 52nd minute mark by a stand alone free kick.

Madison Slezinski joined the shooting gallery in the 62nd minute with a goal of her own, as Lichtensteiger once again tagged in with an assist.

Reese found the first and the last goals of the contest, as she found her second goal of the night in the 72nd minute on a long shot off a throw-in sequence.

With the final whistle the No. 4-rated Saints had pushed their season to 10-0 (7-0).

  • Abild and Slezinski both tallied in with a goal a piece
