Adrian, Mich. – The Aquinas Saints women's basketball team opened conference play with a solid performance on Wednesday evening (Nov. 20), earning a 63-58 road win over Siena Heights. Aquinas came out strong with a 20-point first quarter and maintained control throughout the game.
Claire Gregwer led the team once again, supported by a strong showing from
Paige Guernsey.
The win moves Aquinas to 2-4 on the season, while Siena Heights also sits at 2-4.

Aquinas started fast, with Gregwer scoring a layup to open the game. Siena Heights responded with a three-pointer and another quick basket, but Aquinas stayed in the mix with contributions from
Emily Cline and
Brynn Reams.
Ashlyn Wilkes then hit a three-pointer to tie the score.
Siena Heights briefly regained the lead, but Aquinas quickly took control. Wilkes connected on another three-pointer, and
Avery DePagter added two free throws. Gregwer closed out the first quarter with two free throws and a pair of jump shots, giving Aquinas a 20-16 lead.
In the second quarter, Gregwer opened with two free throws, while DePagter and Guernsey added layups to maintain the team's lead. Gregwer's three-pointer and late jumper helped the Saints finish the half up 31-28.
Wilkes started the third quarter with a three-pointer to extend the lead, but Siena Heights made a push to keep the game close. Free throws from Reams and Guernsey kept Aquinas in front as they worked to hold off the Saints' challenge.
In the final quarter, Guernsey's layup and free throw helped solidify the lead, while Gregwer dominated the floor, adding a three-pointer, two free throws, and a layup. Aquinas stayed ahead by six points with just a few minutes left, and strong free-throw shooting down the stretch secured the victory.
Aquinas outshot Siena Heights across the board, finishing with 37.5% shooting from the field, 42.9% from three-point range, and 84.0% from the free-throw line.
