Governors State took an early lead, though the Saints stayed competitive in the opening period. With aggressive defeence the Saints were able to hold the Jaguars to a narrow margin. A key piece of the first quarter that helped fuel the energy was Leah French 's steal that was followed by a layup from Claire Gregwer. This was followed by a series of crucial steals and rebounds, finishing the first quarter down by just three points at 20-17.

Offensively the Saints started the second quarter slow with only looks for the first two minutes. However, this didn't last long as Gregwer sunk a layup that was assisted by Avery DePagter. Even with the effort of the team pushing ahead, the second quarter saw Aquinas outscored 19-11, Governors State stretched the lead further in the third, pulling away to a comfortable margin.

Despite the setback, Gregwer once again shone for Aquinas, achieving her third double-double of the season with an impressive 24-point game and 14 rebounds. Paige Guernsey also contributed solidly, with seven points and seven rebounds. Aquinas showed resilience, particularly on the boards, as they outrebounded Governors State 44-34.
