AQ popped into action by collecting the jump ball leading to a
Devon Boyd three-pointer just seconds into the contest. The Saints did strike first but the Maple Leaves managed to return to the rim adamantly as they extended their advantage early into the first.
GC's extension went as far as +14 points (25-11), but the Saints began to pull back and remap their approach. Aquinas's renewed approach trickled and then began to flow as the Saints began to find their stride as the half neared its conclusion. With the final horn, AQ had turned the tide and marched back on the deficit to just a single point (36-35).
In the second half, both teams earned respective runs on the scoreboard but AQ kept the Maple Leaves at a distance with their second-half strength. With the conclusion of the second, the Saints had defeated a 14-point disadvantage and finished on top with a +9 advantage of their own (82-73).
