Grand Rapids, Mich. — The Aquinas College men's lacrosse team had a strong start to their season. First taking down Central Michigan in an exhibition and then taking down #9 Saint Ambrose 13-12. Several Saints shined bright in their season opening, but
Austin Hynote is the first to earn his WHAC strips for the season. Hynote earns the teams first WHAC Defensive Player of the Week award.
The Junior from Chesterton, Indiana, had a showing at opening day against #9 Saint Ambrose. The top 10 contest between the #9 Bees and the #10 Saints was a back-and-forth, merely won by a single goal. Hynotes performance in net is part of the puzzle that the Bees couldn't fully crack.
Hynote ended up with a total of 15 saves, which assisted the Saints in taking down the Bees on home turf.
This contest was the Saints first game of the season, and walking away with both a win and a WHAC award is certainly an achievement.
The boys in maroon will look to keep the momentum going as they return to play on Saturday (Mar. 9) against (RV) Benedictine College.
