Miami Gardens, Fla. — The (RV) Aquinas College women's lacrosse team traveled down to Miami Gardens, Florida, to take on the Bobcats of St. Thomas on Saturday (Mar. 9). The contest shot off to a start with two goals occurring within the first minute. But as the final horn sounded, the Saints came up short against St. Thomas, 22-14.

The Bobcats came up quickly in the opening attack as they plucked their first goal within just 41 seconds. But AQ's
Kennadie Minerich would retaliate with an equalizing goal just 15 seconds later. Bringing the contest to a 1-1 standing within just 56 seconds.
The remaining of the quarter would be a smattering of goals for both sides, as the horn sounded the scoreboard stood even at 6-6.
Trinity Reynoso,
Sophia Schmader, and
Shaylin Rings all found one goal in the first. Whereas Minerich collected a hat trick in just the first quarter. Scoring at 14:04, 10:10, and 3:05; meaning she had scored a hat trick in just under 11 minutes of play.
Aquinas had started the second quarter with gusto as they collected two more goals, pushing their unanswered goals to four straight. Rings and Minerich were on the tallies. The second quarter saw an even back-and-forth as both teams rebolstered their defenses. The Bobcats finally outcast the drought to bring the game 8-7.
The teams went on to split a goal apiece before the second quarter elapsed. This time it was Rings who collected her own hat trick. As the clock expired it was 9-8 in favor of AQ.
The back-and-forth continued in the third quarter as 11 total goals were scored. At the end of the third, the Bobcats took the advantage 15-13.
Schmader found her second goal, which was assisted by Rings.
Minerich stamped her prowess on the Bobcat defense as she once again notched three goals, her second hat trick of the contest. This time scoring the three goals within six minutes.
The fourth quarter is where the Bobcats dug their claws in and turned the game. This period of play saw eight goals, only one of which sided for AQ.
St. Thomas scored seven straight goals, pushing the scoreboard advantage to 22-13. But in a last-stitch effort, Rings suck a buzzer-beater to lighten the load to 22-14.
This loss drops the (RV) Saints to 1-4 on the season, as St. Thomas jumps to 2-3.
By the Numbers
Minerich tallied seven goals, all of which were unassisted.
Rings notched four goals and an assist.
Schmader collected two goals.
And Reynoso had one for the Saints.
With this showing, Minerich scored her 235th point and is now the all-time scorer in Aquinas women's lacrosse history, surpassing Alexandra Burns (232).
