WHAC RELEASE
Grand Rapids, Mich. – The Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) announced its Preseason Coaches' Poll rankings for the 2024-25 season. After a strong finish to the 2023-24 season and a couple of key additions, the AQ women's golf team has been slated to finish fifth this season.
Aquinas netted 102 total points in the poll after finishing in fifth at the WHAC Championship last season. In an extremely rare instance, Lawrence Tech topped the poll with 161 points despite not receiving the most first-place votes (5). UNOH received eight first-place votes and 155 total points for second place. Siena Heights (135 points) and Cleary (113 points) rounded out the four teams that finished ahead of Aquinas.
Aquinas has a strong returning cast this season that includes senior
Emma Franklin, who finished in 12th at the WHAC Championship last season. Sophomores
Jayda Kerns,
Zoey Quinn, and
Maddie Schense are all back as well after seeing strong improvements last season. MHSAA all-state golfer,
Ava Clark, joined the ranks this season as well after shooting in the 70s at the MHSAA state tournament last season.
The Saints debuted in the 2024-25 season this past Monday and Tuesday (Sept. 9-10) with a seventh-place finish at the Battle at Blackthorn.
Jayda Kerns and
Zoey Quinn led the AQ field with a two-round total of +30.
The WHAC Fall Preview is just around the corner with the women's team competing on September 23 and 24 at Stonehenge Golf Course.
