Box Score Grand Rapids Mich.- The Saints came out on top once again with another sweep against UNOH! Aquinas battled through three tight sets with the Racers but secured the win, fueled by a powerful offensive and defensive performance. This victory marks the fourth straight sweep from AQ, giving them a killer 15-1 (2-0) record.
#12 Aquinas 3, UNOH 0 (25-18, 25-21, 25-18)
Aquinas started the night off hot with a service ace and kill from Jenna Lee to give the Saints a quick 2-0 lead. Another kill from Mallory Keller and ace from Bella Hommes continues to demonstrate AQ's aggressive attack style. UNOH was able to match the energy, and after a few errors from the Saints the Racers were able to tie the set 11-11. Angelia Cutts and Keller were able to put an end to UNOH's run by coming down swinging, once again giving Aquinas a lead of 18-14. Late kills from Samee Teachworth and Cutts were able to put this set away 25-18.
Similar to the second set, Aquinas was able to establish a 4-0 lead, assisted by big blocks from Lauren Chioini and Lydia Harper. Aquinas never let off the gas and continued to show strong offensive efforts to earn a towering lead of 10-5. UNOH answered back with a run of their own to cut the lead to 17-16. Lee was able to drop two more aces on the Racers before Chioini laid down a kill to end the set 25-21.
For the final set of the match, UNOH was able to grab their first lead of the night putting the Saints down 4-1. A service ace from Hommes and back-to-back kills from Harper were able to end UNOH's run and tie the set 4-4. Hommes scored yet another service ace while Keller, Chioini, and Lee found empty space to keep pushing the Saint's lead to 19-14. Two kills from Teachworth and an attack error from the Racers sealed tonight's triumph 25-18.
