Men’s and Women’s Golf Kicks Off Season at Pilot Invitational

Saints kick off the season at the Pilot Invitational hosted by Bethel.

South Bend, Ind. — As the new golf season swings into action, both the men's and women's golf teams have approached their first day of tournament play with commendable optimism and determination. While the opening round may not have showcased their peak performances, this inaugural event has laid a solid foundation for growth and resilience. The Saints now have a fantastic opportunity to shine as they head into day two of the Pilot Invitational tomorrow (Aug. 10).

Women:

The women's team kicked off their opening day with a promising start, as many players managed to hit for par amidst the high stakes of their first tournament. Given that a majority of the team consists of underclassmen, the pressure was evident, but their resilience persisted. Coach John Konya offered a reassuring perspective at the end of day one: "Tomorrow is another day … I'm confident that we'll be able to bounce back and play well tomorrow." With this encouragement, the team is poised to leverage their skills and rise to the challenge in the second round of the Pilot Invitational.

Here are how the girls shot individually:

(T21) Zoey Quinn 87 (+15).

(T30) Jayda Kerns 90 (+18).

(37th) Emma Franklin 92 (+20).

(38th) Ava Clark 94 (+22).
