The AQ Men's Basketball team showed resilience throughout the game. Down by as many as 11 points in the second half, Coach Ryan Bertoia's squad made a strong push and cut the deficit to just two points with 9:17 remaining. Caden Pokorzynski's put-back basket brought the score to 58-56. However, the Warriors maintained their shooting touch, hitting over 50% from the field in the second half, ultimately securing the victory.
"Until our defense gets back to the level it was earlier this year, we'll continue to be inconsistent," Coach Bertoia reflected. "Conference road games are a real challenge."
Pokorzynski continued his impressive form, registering another double-double with 14 points, 14 rebounds, and two blocks. Jadakiss Lewis and Kaleb Mitchelson also led the offensive charge, contributing 16 and 15 points, respectively. Terrance Jones was just shy of a double-double, posting 12 points, eight rebounds, and three assists. Ryan Weir provided a spark with 9 points, all coming from three-point range. Jacob Howard added 9 points and five rebounds off the bench.
Coach Bertoia was encouraged by the effort his team showed despite their current three-game losing streak. "Our effort was better tonight," he said. "We just need to learn how to close out games and focus on the small details that will help us accomplish that."
With the loss, the Saints fall to 10-10 overall and 6-7 in the WHAC.
