Grand Rapids, Mich. — The Aquinas College Overwatch 2 team began their Spring semester of competition on Thursday (Jan. 30) against Cleary.
Cleary 3, Aquinas 0
The contest saw a breakout fight as both teams looked for control. CU managed to take hold of the match, but the Saints weren't dissuaded easily as they continued to push. Even with key moments and underdog victories, Aquinas was unable to find the missing link within each leg of the contest. In the end, the Cougars claimed a 3-0 victory.
By the Numbers
Here is what Interim Director
Tommy Gehl had to share on the team's opening contest, "Similar to Valorant, our Overwatch 2 team is facing grand odds this semester. The team showed resilience in the face of a strong opponent which will be a common front for this season, as the WHAC continues its stride within Esports. It is apparent that the team has already improved from each leg of the contest and I am very pleased with that. This evening's match was very educational to our squad and I think will set us on a path to build upon ourselves."
