Rochester Hills, MI – The Aquinas College women's soccer team had another strong performance and won their second straight game Wednesday afternoon by beating Rochester Christian 3-1. The 24th-ranked Saints improved to 4-1-1 on the road this season and have allowed one goal or less in 10 straight games.
Aquinas 3, Rochester Christian 1
The Saints received another stout defensive effort and scored a pair of goals in a span of three minutes in the second half to secure an important road win.
Aquinas stayed in third place in the WHAC standings with one game remaining in the regular season.
Leading scorer Kiersen Korienek recorded her ninth of the season in the 12th minute off a pass from Julia Grzadkowska to give the Saints an early 1-0 lead.
The score remained that way until Aquinas gave itself breathing room with a goal from Emily Gignac, her first of the season, in the 62nd minute off a low cross from Korienek.
Shortly thereafter, an Aquinas corner kick bounced off a couple Rochester Christian players and into the goal to put the Saints ahead 3-0.

Coach's Comments
Head coach Jenna Smith said the team is playing well right now with the WHAC tournament looming: "It's been the message the last couple games and they are really starting to find their groove. It's coming at a good time, and obviously we wanted the season to go a bit different in the middle part, but if we are going to hit our stride, I'd rather have it be at the end than the beginning. Rochester is a great team and a little tricky to play against so for us we tried to prepare as well as we could. We were happy to be up 1-0 at the half and they came out perfectly and played better in the second half and took care of it."
