Late Surge Not Enough as #6 Aquinas Falls to #5 Madonna, 14–10

Grand Rapids, Mich. — The No. 6-rated Aquinas College men's lacrosse team faced off with the No. 5-rated Madonna Crusaders on Wednesday (Apr. 9) on the AQ Athletic Field. After a long three quarters, the Saints had a furious fourth-quarter rally but it wasn't enough to overcome a slow start. In the end, the Saints dropped this conference battle to the Crusaders, 14-10.

The Crusaders jumped out early, scoring four times in the opening quarter and took a 9–2 lead by halftime.

Cory Holmes opened the scoring for the Saints, while Cade Linnemeyer paced the offense with a four-goal performance. Despite trailing by as many as ten in the second half, Aquinas refused to go quietly, storming back with five goals in the final period. Alex Rolands scored a man-up goal to start the fourth, followed by Nico Kittredge and Cade Linnemeyer cutting the deficit to four. Although Madonna temporarily stalled the Saint's momentum, Rolands and Linnemeyer responded with their own to make it 14–10 with just over two minutes remaining.

Despite their best efforts, the Saints couldn't make the comeback and suffered their second loss of the season, 14-10.
