Box Score 2 The men's tennis team took on a pair of non-conference opponents yesterday, splitting against Spring Arbor and Huntington. The Saints are now 1-5 on the young season.
The Saints opened the day with a 5-2 defeat at the hands of Spring Arbor. Despite
Joel Hancox and
Nicholas Klak earning a 6-4 win in #1 doubles, the Saints dropped the doubles point after losing the other two matchups. The Cougars won four of six singles matchups to take the match 5-2.
Max Goldbeck-Lowe won in #4 singles (3-6, 7-6 (7), 10-8) and
Brandon McEachern won in #5 singles (6-2, 6-4) for the Saints.
Later in the day, the Saints picked up their first victory of the season by downing Huntington 4-3. AQ picked up the doubles point by sweeping all three matches.
Austin Luker and
Joel Hancox won 6-4, Klak/McEachern won 7-5 and Goldbeck-Lowe and
Eamonn Moore won 6-2. The two teams split the six singles matchups, with Nick Klak (6-3, 6-2), Goldbeck-Lowe (6-2, 6-2), and McEachern (6-2, 6-3) all winning in singles action for the Saints.
The Saints return to the courts next weekend (Feb 29th) when they open WHAC play against Indiana Tech.
