Getting AQuainted with Angelica Gero

We recently started a new series called "Getting AQuainted With…" as a way for our fans to get to know our Aquinas head coaches on a few professional topics and through some more light-hearted questions.

Name: Angelica Gero

Hometown: Howell, New Jersey

Alma Mater / Year / Major: Georgian Court University / 2010/ Natural Science

What is your favorite thing about being a head coach at Aquinas? Having the opportunity to be a part of my athletes growth through a really important phase of their lives. Here at AQ, our student-athletes come in already with so much to offer. I love being someone's who can guide them to realize how much more they are capable of than they even realize. I also love the trees on our campus ??

What is your top memory from your time at AQ? Beating SHU in the freezing pouring rain the last game of a very difficult 2019 spring season. That day the squad showed a toughness that they hadn't reached together prior to that game.

Your favorite:

Musical artist/band? I hope you're allowing more than 1 answer cause this is impossible...Whitney Houston, Counting Crows, Def Leppard, Kygo

Movie? Jurassic Park

TV Show? Boy Meets World

Book? Harry Potter & The Prisoner of Azkaban

Meal? Vegetable Stir Fry over rice or pasta- must include broccoli, zucchini, green peppers & onions to be called my favorite meal

Restaurant? Pete & Elda's (Neptune NJ)

Sports team (non AQ)? NY Giants

What have you been watching during quarantine? EVERYTHING. Movie marathons, The Office (for the 8th time) and Broad City mostly. Marathons so far- Harry Potter, Jurassic Park, American Pie, Hunger Games, self created shark movie marathon. On deck- LOtR & Star Wars.

What is something about you that would surprise most people? That I have spent quite a bit of time in South Africa studying and diving with sharks, specifically great whites ??

What is your hidden talent? I can actually hold a tune, which is a good thing for how unashamed I am to sing loudly in any atmosphere.

If you could go on vacation anywhere and price was not a factor, where would you go? The Maldives before they're gone, or on a conservation trip to Indonesia with one of my favorite shark conservationists, or diving with tiger sharks at Tiger Beach.

What would you be if you weren't a coach? Shark & ocean conservationist, or marine biologist

What is/would be your go-to karaoke song? Is. On a tame night- Mr Big- To Be With You, on a night when I'm feeling like I can't be stopped- Bonnie Tyler- Total Eclipse of the Heart

What was your first job? Dunkin' Donuts/ Baskin Robbins combo store

Who is the most famous person you've met? Patrick Ewing

If resources and time weren't factors, what would you like to cross off your bucket list? Ugh, you'll be sorry you asked me this. I'll stay controlled here, but the short answer has to be travel related. There is so much I want to do and see in the US and internationally, the PNW for sure, and Chile internationally. Also skydiving is coming up here in my near future for sure.
