The WCHA bowling season started this Saturday (Oct. 2) for the Aquinas women's bowling team as it competed in the WHAC Jamboree #1, hosted by Indiana Tech. The Saints finished seventh out of the 10 WHAC teams with a team score of 5553.
Host Indiana Tech ended up winning the first of four WHAC tournaments by knocking down a total of 6766 pins. Lawrence Tech finished second with 6447 pins, Madonna came in third with 6170 pins, Lourdes finished fourth with 6071 pins, and Concordia finished in fifth with 5929 pins to round out the top five.
Nicole Pawloski had the best day in a Saints uniform finishing just outside the top-10 in 11th place by knocking down 682 pins. Pawloski knocked down 193-154-158-177 through four games, which was 29 pins behind 10th place.
Narelle Hickmon finished in 19th overall after rolling over 646 pins for a 167-136-166-177 score to give two Saints in the top-20.
The competitors for Aquinas were
Audrey Meader (43rd – 530 pins),
Sydney Wetzel (89th – 290 pins),
Morgan Jones (90th – 288 pins),
Carley Blanchard (94th – 270 pins),
Genevieve Soltis (96th – 256 pins), and
Michelle Thompson (99th – 135 pins). Meader completed three games with Wetzel, Jones, Blanchard, and Soltis all completing two game, while Thompson completed one game.
Aquinas will next compete in the Orange and Black Classic, hosted by Pikeville in Beavercreek, Ohio. The event will be take place at Beaver VU Bowl/Poelking South and begin at 11:00 AM.
