The Women’s Bowling Team has a Turkey with Three Top-20 Finishes

Strong performances by Jones, Vanlinden, and Santo propel the Saints to a second place finish.

Grand Rapids, Mich. – The Aquinas Saints women's bowling team hosted The Nelson on this lovely fall day (Oct. 19), at Station 300, and delivered a strong performance, securing second place overall. They competed against some of the top teams in the region, including Davenport and Indiana Wesleyan, the Saints accumulated a total of 4430 pins, just 489 pins shy of Davenport's winning total of 4919.

Aquinas started off remarkably in game one scoring 847. The Saints worked hard during the baker games as well but showed a well balanced performance in their third baker game, scoring 742 pins. In the first and second game they put up 658 and 622. The Saints beat Indiana Wesleyan by a mere 24 pins.

Individually, Morgan Jones led the Saints with an eighth place finish. She put up scores of 207, 167, and 165. This brings Jones to a total of 539 pins. Kayla Vanlinden followed her with a 13th place finish with game high of 194 and a total of 510. Sophia Santo was the last of the Saints to finish in the top 20. Santo put up 494 for the day.

On the junior varsity side, Paige Hall delivered a standout performance. She placed 18th overall in the singles competition with a total of 495 pins. Other notable contributions came from Courtney Delaney, who finished with 475 pins, and Shelby Sanders, who scored 380 pins, finishing 24th and 45th, respectively.

Overall, the Aquinas Saints proved to be impressive contenders on their home lanes. While Davenport took home the title, the Saints' performance, both individually and as a team, was a statement to their grit and consistency.
