The women's track and field program was back in action this weekend for the John Flaminio Classic. While competing Friday evening at Alksnis Athletic & Recreation Center, the Saints saw three athletes hit standards.
Hannah Adler got the Saints off to hot start when she soloed her way to a B standard in the 1K. She crossed the line with a 3:02 to earn her second qualifying mark of the season after hitting an A standard in the mile last weekend.
Two Pole Vaulters then hit qualifiers to continue to successful meet.
Laikyn Kulman improved on her previous B standard when she vaulted 3.72. With this updated mark, she has automatically qualified for Nationals.
Shaily Baynes then snuck in a provisional qualifier with a height of 3.42 meters.
Aside from those performances, the Saints dominated throughout the meet. They finished first with 179.5 points on the night. The next closest competitor was Hope College with 126.5 points.
In the 60 dash
Casey Lenon won the event with a 8.01. Lenon then continued to win events when she got set for the 200 meter dash. She finished with a 26.37, a full second faster than second place. She closed out her evening with a high jump finishing first with a height of 1.60.
Crystal Goyette finished second in the event with a height of 1.55.
Then in the 600,
Maggie Whitney won the event with a 1:39 and was followed closely by
Tarshana Kimbrough with a 1:42, good for second place.
In the women's shot put
Rebecca Beltran, placed third with a throw of 10.87m .
The women will be back in action January 28, when they compete at the John Clinger Classic at Grand Valley State University.
