Grand Rapids, MI - In the second meet of the year the men's cross country team was racing at the GRCC Raider Invitational at the Gainey Athletic Complex. Despite resting core members of the team, the Saints managed to place second in the race that featured 24 other collegiate teams.

The Saints finished the contest with 68 total points when their top five runners all finished faster than 26:40. The Saints were only bested by NCAA Division II Northwood University who scored 31 points.

Leading the way for the Saints today was senior
Caleb Hodgkinson and junior
Connor Callahan. Hodgkinson and Callahan maintained a pace of 5:12 per mile over the 4.97 mile race to finish with times of 25:53 and 25:54. Hodgkinson finished eighth while Callahan finished tenth.

A few seconds behind them was another duo in
Matthew Schieber and
Edward Frey. The two finished in 11th and 13th with Schieber leading the way to a 26:04 and Frey finishing with a 26:05. Sophomore,
Ethan Barker was the final scorer in when he finished with a time of 26:34 placing him 26th.
Rounding out the top seven was a pair of "Bens" with
Ben Peterson running a time of 26:55 and
Ben Hylen running a time of 27:00. They finished in 34th and 36th in the race.

The men will next race in two weeks at the highly competitive Greater Louisville Classic. The meet will take place in Louisville, Kentucky with the race going off at 10:45 AM.
