Carson Wood Joins AQ XC/TF Recruiting Class

Grand Rapids, Michigan - Carson Wood, the son of Julie and Jeremy Wood, has signed his national letter of intent to continue his academic and athletic career at Aquinas College. Wood, who currently attends Sparta High School, became the second signee of the 2025-26 recruiting class for the Aquinas College men's cross country and track & field programs.

Wood simply stated, "I chose Aquinas because of the connection I felt with the team and the coaches."

Carson, who enjoys video games and sports, has posted personal bests that include 15:57 on the cross course and 1:58.89 (800 meters) and 4:32.32 (1600 meters) on the track.  Wood, the grandson of legendary Aquinas College track and field Coach Dave Wood, has garnered countless All-Conference, All-Region and Academic All State accolades.

Ted Smith, cross country and track & field coach at Sparta High School added, "We are excited that Carson will be able to continue his education and running career at Aquinas.  Carson has continued to work in the off season his entire career.  These habits formed will make him a great addition to the Aquinas program.  We are excited to see how he continues to develop as a young man and as an athlete under the guidance of Coach Woj!"

Carson has five siblings named Kennedi, Evan, Addisyn, Bentley, and Paxton and he most likely plans on majoring in Finance at Aquinas College.

Aquinas head coach Mike Wojciakowski commented, "I am really looking forward to Carson joining our program here at Aquinas. He possesses all of the attributes that I look for in a student-athlete and I believe he will be a very successful collegiate athlete for the Saints."
