Grand Rapids, MI - The men's track and field team hosted the GRSHOF Classic this evening that saw five other schools attend. The Saints used this meet as a tune up for the upcoming GVSU Big Meet where they hope to continue vaulting up the USTFCCCA rankings behind several NAIA qualifiers.

To begin the event, the men's 4x800 relay nearly ran their way to a provisional mark with a time of 8:00. The team consisted of
Zander Masten,
Juan David Hernandez,
Will Finch, and
Caleb Hodgkinson.

They were followed by the prelims of the 60-meter dash.
Nate White,
Cyrus Prudhomme, and
Brian Stump found their way to the finals of the event. White placed second overall with a time of 7.05 and was closely followed by Prudhomme with a time of 7.10. Stump placed fifth in the final with a time of 7.30. Prudhomme would come back in the 200 meter dash and take second with a time of 22.89.

Hot off the heels of his school record last weekend,
Nathan Iacona won the 400 meter dash with a time of 50.59. The event was very competitive as
Jacob Tenbusch placed fourth only .4 seconds behind Iacona.

In the mile, the pack of
Connor Clemens,
Matthew Schieber, and
Connor Callahan worked together to go 3-4-5 in the event. The trio went 4:26, 4:26, and 4:27 this evening.

In the men's high jump, the duo of
Jacob Merryfield and
Casey Mathieu both hit a height of 1.81 meters to take third and fourth.

Finally,
John Van Til was the Saints highest finisher in the shot put taking fourth with a mark of 12.97 meters.
Ethan Morgan was close behind throwing 12.44 meters.

As mentioned, the Saints are preparing for the highly competitive GVSU Big Meet next week Friday and Saturday. The meet takes place at the Kelly Family Sports Complex in Allendale, Michigan.
