Miami Gardens, Fla – The Aquinas women's basketball team battled fiercely but came up short against No. 23-ranked Briar Cliff. Despite their determination and effort, the Saints couldn't overcome the Chargers, ending their six game win streak. 

Aquinas 59, Briar Cliff 90

The No. 23-ranked Briar Cliff Chargers set the tone early, jumping out to an 8-0 lead before Ashlyn Wilkes ended the run with a layup to put the Saints on the board at 8-2. The Chargers responded with another 5-0 run, but Paige Guernsey's layup stopped the surge, making it 13-4. Briar Cliff kept the momentum, scoring seven unanswered points before Claire Gregwer added a layup to make it 20-6. Brynn Reams closed out the first quarter with a layup, but the Saints faced a steep 28-8 deficit.

Briar Cliff opened the second quarter with a three-pointer, but Emily Cline countered with a layup to bring the score to 31-10. Reams followed with another layup, and Gregwer converted a three-point play to make it 50-15. Guernsey added another layup as the Saints trailed 53-17 at the halftime break.

In the third quarter, Isabel Reemsnyder made her mark with a layup followed by a three-pointer, bringing the score to 54-22. Gregwer added two free throws, and Rhema Dozier hit a jumper to cut the gap to 57-27. Additional free throws from Gregwer and a layup from Leah French moved the score to 68-31. Gregwer and Reams combined for five late points, but the Saints entered the final quarter down 72-38.

Gregwer opened the fourth quarter with a layup to make it 72-40. Reemsnyder found her rhythm from beyond the arc, sinking three three-pointers to narrow the gap to 78-49. Emilynne Braue entered the game and connected on a three-pointer, cutting the deficit to 83-52. Emma Picarazzi added another three-pointer, while Mckenzie Munson and Clemmie Gadwood chipped in layups as the Saints fell to Briar Cliff, 90-59.
