Lewisburg, Pennsylvania - The men's track & field team sent a portion of their middle distance and distance squads to Bucknell University over the weekend to compete in one of the biggest track & field meets in the country. Coach
Nick Thelen led nine athletes to the Bison Outdoor Classic in which the Saints competed in the 800, 1500, 3000 steeplechase, 5000, and 10,000 meters.
The meet was highlighted by the performances of
Ben Hardy and
Edward Frey. Hardy would place 2nd out of 67 competitors in the men's 3000 meter steeplechase. Hardy's time of 9:09.32 moves him up to #2 on the Saints All-Time List and automatically qualifies him for the NAIA National Outdoor Championships. His time currently has him ranked #2 in the country and he now only trails the great Pat Weiler in school history in the steeplechase.
Edward Frey would record a personal best of 14:50.56 and place 51st out of 101 in the invitational section of the 5,000 meters. His performance moves him all the way up to #3 on the Saints All-TIme List.
Brian Langlois also tallied a personal best in the steeplechase as he knocked off 13 seconds off his previous best. His time of 9:45.30 ranks him third in the WHAC.
The Saints will look for continued success next weekend at GVSU's Al Owens Classic.
