Allendale, Michigan - The men's track and field team continued their great start to the outdoor season at the GVSU Early Meet. The men tallied a new school record, some updates to the top five board, and numerous personal bests.
For the second consecutive week,
Nathan Iacona set a new standard in the 400 meters. Iacona won the event and broke his own record with a time of 48.20. He improved his provisional qualifying time and is currently ranked second in the WHAC. In the following heat,
Jake Van Tassell would also dip below the 49 second mark as the 400 meter hurdle record holder crossed the line in 48.95 to move to #5 on the Saints All-Time List.
The Saints also received a strong performance by
Ben Hardy in the 1500 meters. He would win the event in a time 3:57.15. Aquinas also received top five finishes from
Nate White (100 meters - 11.00),
Keiton Fase (200 meters - 22.47),
Jesunifemi Ojutalayo (Long Jump - 22' 8.5"),
Jacob Merryfield (High Jump - 6' 2.25"), and
Blake Whetstone (High Jump - 6' 0.5").
The Saints will look for continued success next weekend as the team will send split squads to Bucknell University and Davenport University.
