Men's Cross Country NAIA Coaches' Poll - No. 4
Kansas City, Mo. — The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) has announced the Men's Cross Country Top 25 Coaches' Poll on Thursday (Oct. 30). The Saints, who were slated No. 16 in the last poll, slid nine spots to #25 in the country.
Aquinas had a solid season debut at the Calvin University Diemer Classic where they placed first out of six squads. The Saints would then best a twelve team field to win the Siena Heights Invitational by 14 points. The success continued as Aquinas would win the Seminole Valley Stampede in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The Saints posted the third fastest team time in school history and outdistanced themselves from 22 other institutions in the final results. Most recently, the Saints finished 12th at the annual NAIA Great Lakes Challenge. While not the finish Aquinas was looking for they did post the tenth fastest team time (2:07:09) in school history.
The Saints, who are seeking a third consecutive WHAC title, find themselves trailing two other WHAC school in the latest Top 25. Madonna University comes in at #14, while Cornerstone University checked in at #22 in the current poll.
Coach Wojciakowski commented, "Despite the final results from Great Lakes I feel that our group is in a great position as we enter championship season. The team is looking sharp and I am excited for the squad to compete at the WHAC Championships next week. We have control of our own destiny and that's all you can ask for this time of year."
The Saints will return to action on November 7th when they travel to Adrian, Michigan. The WHAC Men's Cross Country Championships will be contested at Heritage Park, with the men starting at 3pm.Â
