Allendale, Michigan - The men's track and field team continued their outdoor season this weekend at the GVSU Early Meet. The men tallied many top finishes and numerous personal bests over the two day meet.
The Saints had a very strong showing in the 400 meters.
Nathan Iacona placed second with a 48.06, while
Marcus Mitchell recorded a 49.74 to place 6th.
Nolan Moffit had a breakout performance as he crossed the line in 50.69.
Jaben Bakker paced the Saints attack in the 800 meters with a time of 1:58.42, while
Will VanderBor (15:22.67) and
Austin Williford (15:29.30) recorded personal bests to lead a large contingent of Saints in the 5000 meters. Moffit and Bakker would team up with
Adrian Romero and
Zander Masten to placed 3rd in the 4x400 Meter Relay (3:30.26).
The Saints also saw some exceptional performances in the field events.
Thomas Bearden set a personal best in the shot put (47' 3/4") to place sixth and he also tallied another pr in the discus (123-11).
Peyton Scott saw some success in the long jump (20' 9 3/4), and also recorded a 16.70 in the 110 hurdles.
Blake Whetstone and
Casey Mathieu would both clear 6' 0" in the high jump. Mathieu would also set a personal best in the javelin with a throw of 133-7. In the pole vault both
Emmanuel Farage and
Joe Farage would clear 13' 3 3/4".
The Saints will look for continued success next weekend as the team travels to Davenport University.
