Grand Rapids, Michigan - The men's track and field team returned to action on Saturday afternoon with a trip down the East Beltline to the Calvin Knight Invitational. The Saints battled the competition and some cold and windy conditions at the Gainey Athletic Complex.
Leading the way on the track for the Saints was
Jaben Bakker who claimed a first place finish in the 400 meters. His time of 51.37 bested the field, as the middle distance specialist stepped down in distance as he preps for championship season. He would later team up with
Alex Dumont, Lauren Wooer, and Amber Koole to place second in the mixed 4x400 meter relay.
Casey Mathieu played the starring role for the Saints in the field as his personal best of 160-2 in the javelin placed second.
Ryan McGuire (167-1) and
Dion Dorris (133-0) both set personal bests in the hammer throw.
The Saints next competition will be this upcoming weekend at GVSU.
