Grand Rapids, Michigan - Dion Dorris, the son of Marcey and Dion Dorris Sr., has signed his national letter of intent to continue his academic and athletic career at Aquinas College. Dorris, who recently graduated from East Kentwood High School, became the eleventh signee of the 2024-25 recruiting class for the Aquinas College men's cross country and track & field programs.

Dorris stated, "I chose Aquinas because there's things in life that just feel right and Aquinas gave me that feeling that big things will happen in these four years."

Dion, whose hobbies include listening to music and practicing, has posted personal bests of 140' 8' in the discus and 45' 0.5" in the shot put.  Dion and his East Kentwood teammates recently won the OK Red and the MITCA Team State Championships. He also has received high accolades on the EK Debate Team.

Dave Emeott, the head coach at East Kentwood High School added, "Dion is an amazing young man who is universally loved by his teammates.  He will make any organization he is a member of better."

Dion has three siblings named Darcey, Dari, and Diane and he is planning on studying Sports Management and Business Administration at Aquinas College.

Aquinas' head coach Mike Wojciakowski commented, "Dion is a wonderful addition to our throws group and the Aquinas College community. He has shown great improvement in his craft and has tremendous potential at the collegiate level. But most importantly with Dion is that we are getting an amazing individual with a gentle soul and genuine goodness about him.  I am very excited to see the impact that Dion can make on our team and our campus."
