Kasey Brehm Signs With AQ Men's Track & Field

Grand Rapids, Michigan - Kasey Brehm, the son of Andrea and Nate Brehm, has signed his national letter of intent to continue his academic and athletic career at Aquinas College. Brehm, who recently graduated from Byron Center High School, became the tenth signee of the 2024-25 recruiting class for the Aquinas College men's cross country and track & field programs.

Brehm stated, "I was down to Aquinas College and another school and most of my family would have rather seen me going to AQ. Also it was an overall better option for me staying close to home and it was more affordable with the scholarship opportunities."

Kasey, whose hobbies include fishing and hanging out with friends, has posted a personal best of 41.1 in the 300 meter hurdles.  Brehm, who also will be playing hockey for the Saints, has split 52.0 for the Bulldogs in the 4x400 meter relay. He was named All Conference in 4x400 relay and placed third in the OK-Green in the 300 meter hurdles.  On the ice Kasey was an All Conference selection and was a part of Byron Center's conference, regional and state championship squad. He also garnered Academic All-State accolades and was a four year honor roll recipient.

Colin Hunter, the head coach at Byron Center High School commented, "Kasey was a late bloomer in track, but when he decided he was in, he was all in. From watching YouTube of famous hurdlers to scrolling athletic.net on current hurdle and 4x400 times, to working in practice, he made it clear he wanted to get the best out of himself."

Georgie Blake, hurdle coach for the Bulldogs added, "Brehm was the best surprise that our guys hurdle crew could have gotten in 2023. He brought an intensity and desire to improve to our squad that we did not have. I look forward to seeing what he can accomplish at the collegiate level."

Kasey has two siblings named Loren and Emerson and he is planning on studying Accounting at Aquinas College.

Aquinas' associate head coach Kevin Winne commented, "We are pleased that Kasey has decided to continue his academic and athletic pursuits at Aquinas. He will be a solid addition to our hurdle group this coming year with the potential to become a very good 400 meter hurdler with hard work and dedication. I look forward to working with him over the next four years."
