Grand Rapids, Mich. — Each month during the academic year, Aquinas College Athletic Communications recognizes the student-athletes, coaches, staff members, and supporters who continue to make Saints Athletics one of the premier communities in collegiate athletics through the Saints of the Month honors.

For May 2026, this month's honorees represent national excellence, relentless leadership, championship-level dedication, and unwavering support for the Saints community both on and off the field.

This month's Saints of the Month include Lindsey Strutz of Women's Track & Field as the Female Saint of the Month, Collin Wildman of Men's Lacrosse as the Male Saint of the Month, and Sister Maureen Geary as the Saints Support Superstar of the Month.

Together, they represent the heart of Aquinas Athletics — competitive excellence, leadership, perseverance, school pride, and an unwavering commitment to the continued success of the Saints community.

Female Saint of the Month — Lindsey Strutz, Women's Track & Field

If there was any doubt entering the outdoor season that Lindsey Strutz belonged among the NAIA's elite multi-event athletes, May erased it completely.

The Aquinas heptathlon standout delivered one of the most impressive performances in program history this spring, rewriting school records, earning national recognition, and positioning herself among the top competitors in the country heading into the 74th Annual NAIA Men's & Women's Outdoor Track & Field National Championships on May 20-22 at Karl Straus Track in Asheville.

Strutz will enter the national championships ranked No. 2 nationally in the heptathlon after an incredible performance at the Hillsdale Mid-Week Multi earlier this season.

Over two days and seven events, Strutz captured the heptathlon title while piling up 4,860 points — breaking her own Aquinas school record by an incredible 320 points while producing one of the top marks in the NAIA this season.

Her performance included standout efforts throughout the competition, highlighted by a school-record javelin throw of 129-11.

The performance immediately elevated Strutz into national championship contention and earned her WHAC Female Field Athlete of the Week honors.

Earlier this year during the indoor season, Strutz also earned All-American honors in the pentathlon after finishing sixth nationally with 3,591 points, becoming the first multi-event athlete in Aquinas history to earn All-American recognition.

"Lindsey's performance this spring has been the definition of championship composure," said Mike Wojciakowski. "What makes Lindsey special is how complete of an athlete she is. She competes with confidence, toughness, and consistency every single event."

From hurdles to high jump, shot put, long jump, javelin, and the 800 meters, Strutz has continually proven herself as one of the NAIA's premier all-around athletes.

Now, with the national championships ahead in Asheville, the rest of the country will be chasing one of Aquinas' brightest stars on the national stage.

Male Saint of the Month — Collin Wildman, Men's Lacrosse

Few players embodied the toughness, versatility, and leadership of the 2026 Aquinas Men's Lacrosse team quite like Collin Wildman.

Throughout a season that saw the Saints battle through one of the toughest schedules in the NAIA while earning a trip to the national tournament in Decatur, Wildman continually emerged as one of the most complete midfielders in the conference.

Whether it was scoring timely goals, delivering key assists, scooping up ground balls, forcing turnovers, or bringing energy between the lines, Wildman consistently impacted winning in every possible way.

Wildman finished the regular season with:

  • 34 goals
  • 28 assists
  • 62 points
  • 68 ground balls
  • 25 caused turnovers
  • 4 game-winning goals

He also delivered several standout performances throughout the spring, including a five-goal effort against Taylor, five assists at Lawrence Tech, and five caused turnovers against Michigan-Dearborn.

Earlier this season, Wildman surpassed 100 career points, continuing to cement his place among the most productive midfielders in recent Aquinas Men's Lacrosse history.

Head Coach Peter Treppa praised Wildman's toughness and complete style of play throughout the season.

"Collin is the type of player every coach wants in their program," Treppa said. "He competes relentlessly, plays with emotion, and impacts games in so many different ways. Whether it's offense, defense, transition, or ground balls, he's constantly making winning plays for our team."

Wildman's all-around impact also earned him WHAC Defensive Player of the Week honors earlier this season, a rare accomplishment for a midfielder so heavily involved offensively.

As the Saints prepare for the NAIA National Tournament, Wildman remains one of the emotional and competitive leaders behind an Aquinas team chasing the Red Banner.

Saints Support Superstar — Sister Maureen Geary, Aquinas College President

Few people embody the spirit, passion, and mission of Aquinas College quite like Sister Maureen Geary.

For her unwavering support of Aquinas students, coaches, athletic staff, and especially AQ student-athletes throughout the 2025-26 academic year, Sister Maureen has been named the May 2026 Saints Support Superstar of the Month.

While serving as President of Aquinas College comes with countless responsibilities and demands, Sister Maureen continually finds ways to make herself visible, accessible, and supportive across every corner of campus life — especially within Aquinas Athletics.

Whether it is attending Saints athletic events throughout the year, enthusiastically cheering on AQ student-athletes at national send-offs, serving as an integral part of The Nelly's Athletics Awards Show, appearing as a guest on The Nelson Report, or simply taking time to encourage and support Saints student-athletes behind the scenes, Sister Maureen's impact continues to resonate throughout the Aquinas community.

Her energy, positivity, and genuine passion for the success of AQ students has made her one of the most recognizable and appreciated supporters of Saints Athletics.

"Sister Maureen truly goes above and beyond for our students every single day," said Damon Bouwkamp. "Even with the enormous responsibilities that come with leading Aquinas College, she continually finds time to support our student-athletes and coaches in meaningful ways. Whether she's attending games, helping celebrate our students at The Nelly's, speaking at send-offs, or simply encouraging our teams, her passion for Aquinas Athletics is very real and deeply appreciated."

Throughout the year, Saints student-athletes and coaches have continually felt the support of Sister Maureen's presence.

From standing alongside AQ Athletics during major championship moments to helping celebrate student-athlete accomplishments both on and off the field, she has become one of the loudest and proudest supporters of the maroon and white.

Her appearance on The Nelson Report also allowed the AQ community to see another side of the Aquinas President — one deeply invested in students, campus life, and the importance of athletics as part of the full Aquinas experience.

At national tournament send-offs, Sister Maureen's excitement and encouragement have become memorable moments for AQ teams preparing to represent Aquinas on the national stage. Her ability to connect with student-athletes while helping energize the campus community speaks directly to the culture she continues to help foster at Aquinas College.

Simply put, Sister Maureen is much more than the President of Aquinas College.

She is a loyal supporter, an encouraging voice, a visible leader, and one of the biggest fans AQ Athletics could ever ask for.

Congratulations to Sister Maureen Geary on being named the May 2026 Saints Support Superstar of the Month.
