Alven Sets 400 Meter School Record at GVSU Bill Clinger Classic

Results

The Saints men's and women's track and field squad competed at the GVSU Bill Clinger Classic on Friday (Jan. 17).
 
Jakarri Alven set a school record in the 400 meters with a time of 58.22 seconds. Her ninth-place time is a "B" standard provisional qualifier for the NAIA Championships.
 
Victoria Faber cleared 3.72 meters (12-2 1/2) in the pole vault to improve on her automatic "A" qualifying mark. She came in fifth place overall. 

The 4x400 meter relay team of Casey Lenon, Nicole Diekema and Alven finished third with a time of 4:00.45.
 
Payton Klein had a jump of 1.60 meters in the high jump to finish tied for third place.
 
Whitney Taylor and Maggie Whitney came in sixth and seventh place respectively in the 600 meters. Taylor had a time of 1:42.07 while Whitney finished in 1:42.45.
 
Eunice Eyamba finished sixth in the 60 meter dash crossing the line in 7.95 seconds.
 
Tyra Hunter was eighth in the 60 meter hurdles finishing in 9.20 seconds in the preliminary round and 9.30 seconds in the final round.
 
Rebecca Beltran came in ninth place in the shot put with a mark of 11.25 meters.
 
Matt MacGregor hit an "A" standard in the 600 meters with a time of 1:20.50 to place fourth. It is the #3 time in AQ history. Grayson Harding ran a time of 1:21.28 to hit a "B" standard to finish sixth. His time is #4 in Aquinas history.
 
Aaron Whaley hit the automatic "A" standard mark in the shot put with a toss of 15.98 meters (52-5 1/4). This is the #2 All-Time mark in AQ history. He finished as the runner-up in the meet.
 
The Aquinas "A" and "B" 4x400 meter relay teams came in third and fourth place with times of 3:24.07 and 3:26.07 respectively. Josh Young, Satchel Horton, Adam Bailey and Elijah Ealy made up the "A" squad while Tristan Milarch, Will Haran, MacGregor and Harding made up the "B" team.
 
Collin Pollatz, Evan Pugh and Whaley finished in the top-10 in the weight throw with marks of 16.08 meters (third), 15.75 meters (fifth) and 14.81 meters (ninth) respectively.
 
Isaiah Jackson finished fifth in the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 8.49 seconds. His preliminary round time was 8.50 seconds. 
 
Young came in sixth place in the 400 meters with a time of 50.89 seconds.

AQ's women's team finished ninth out of 20 teams with 19.09 points while the men's team came in fifth place out of 18 teams with 34 points.
 
The Saints next compete at the SVSU Jets Pizza Invitational on Friday, January 24th through Saturday, January 25th in Saginaw, Michigan. The meet begins at 5:00 PM on Friday and 11:00 AM on Saturday.
