Strutz Earns All American Honors in the Pentathlon

Lindsey Breaks Her Own School Record - 3,591 Points

Gainesville, Florida - With day one in the books, the Saints will now switch their attention to Friday's events at the NAIA Indoor Track and Field National Championships. The Saints competed in three preliminary rounds of relays and one individual final on Thursday afternoon.

Lindsey Strutz highlighted the first day of competition as she earned All American honors in the pentathlon. Her five event total of 3,591 points broke her school record and secured a sixth place finish overall. Strutz is now the first multi-event athlete to garner All American honors in school history. She started her day with a 9.12 in the 60 meter hurdles and would follow with a height of 5-2 1/2 in the high jump. She made her move in the shot put and recorded the top distance on the day with a mark of 41-4 1/4. After a successful long jump (17-0), she concluded her grueling day with a 2:31.65 in the 800 meters.

The men's 4x800 bettered their pre-meet seeding by five spots to finish in 17th place overall. Zander Masten, Alex Dumont, Jaben Bakker, and Jack Phillips would post a season best of 7:47.78, but were unable to secure a spot in Friday's final. The Saints also competed in the women's 4x800 meter relay and the distance medley relay. The team of Lexi Hurst, Cadence Schultz, Amber Koole, and Lauren Wooer would also place 17th with a time of 9:26.25.  The quartet of Ella Koons, Sophia Schrauben, Amber Koole, and Madison Rempalski would place 12th in a time of 12:23.86.

The Saints will return to action tomorrow starting at 11:45am. Maelie Hope will compete in the weight throw, while Madison Rempalski will toe the starting line in the mile prelims. Zander Masten has his preliminary round in the 1000 meters and Jalen Radke will compete in the long jump.
