Gainesville, Florida - The men's and women's track and field teams continued action at the Alachua County Sports & Events Center on Day Two of the NAIA Indoor National Championships. The Saints recorded an All American effort, saw one advancement to a final, and set a new school record this afternoon.
Maelie Hope led off the day for the Saints in the weight throw. Hope, now a three-time All American, used a toss of 58-10 3/4 on her second attempt to secure a spot in the finals. The effort would lead to a third place finish and six important points for the team total.
Madison Rempalski also had a big day as she won her heat and qualified for the finals in the mile. Her time of 4:57.51 placed her second in the preliminary round and was the first time Madi dipped under the elusive 5:00 barrier. She improved her time but remains at the #4 spot All-Time at Aquinas.
The Saints also received huge effort from
Zander Masten in the men's 1,000 meters. Masten would break the school record previously held by Grayson Harding. His time of 2:27.97 would place him 14th out of 21 competitors. Masten entered the competition as the 20th seed and he moved up six spots en route to the new school record.
Jalen Radke also competed in the long jump and placed 25th with a mark of 21-7 1/4.
