The Aquinas men's and women's outdoor track & field teams were wildly successful at the 2022 WHAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships with two second place finishes on May 5-6. With the high placements came a lot of postseason awards as 28 athletes were named to the All-WHAC Teams.

Those that won their event were named to the first team, while second place finishers were named to the second team and third place finishers were honorable mentions.

Beginning with the men, those that were all named to the All-WHAC First Team were:
Ben Hardy - 3000m steeplechase
Collin Pollatz - hammer throw
Will Finch, Caleb Hodgkinson, Zander Masten, and Will Westveer - 4x800m relay

The second team finishers were:
Connor Callahan - 3000m steeplechase
Jesse Henderson - pole vault
Clayton Jones - 1500m 
Elmar Koster - javelin
Adam Bailey, Caleb Hodgkinson, Cyrus Prudhomme, and Jacob Tenbusch - 4x400m relay 

Honorable mention selections were:
Ben Hylen - 1500m
Isaiah Jackson - 110m hurdles
Mason King - pole vault 
Jesunifemi Ojutalayo - long jump and triple jump
Matthew Schieber - 10,000m
Yussuf Abdullahi, Cyrus Prudhomme, Brian Stump, and Lawrence Young - 4x100m relay

Koster was the one male who was able to grab an automatic qualifying bid to the nationals meet after throwing 57.90m in the javelin for the 'A' standard. The 4x800m relay team also provisionally qualified for nationals after running a 7:44.80 and needs to shave off the .80 for an 'A' standard time.

Aquinas finished with 15 men's track & field student-athletes on the WHAC All-Academic Team, which are juniors or above in academic standing with a cumulative 3.25 grade point average and have been at AQ for at least one full year. Aquinas' All-Academic honorees are:  Matthew Brines, Connor Callahan, Mike Ciaravino, Ezra Faust, Caleb Hodgkinson, Ben Hylen, Andrew Ireland, Isaiah Jackson, Ben Peterson, Bryce Platte, Collin Pollatz, Cyrus Prudhomme, Brian Stump, John Van Til, and Josh Young.

Jackson was also the AQ representative on the Champions of Character Team, as the Saints player that best represents the five core character values of integrity, respect, responsibility, sportsmanship, and servant leadership.

On the women's side, those named to the All-WHAC First Team were:
Victoria Faber - pole vault
Crystal Goyette - high jump
Tarshana Kimbrough - 400m hurdles
Emily McManus - 3000m steeplechase

The second team finishers were:
Kaylee Diamond - high jump
Megan Gough - 10,000m
Casey Lenon - high jump
Maggie Whitney - 800m
Tarshana Kimbrough, Casey Lenon, Ronnie McMillan, Maggie Whitney - 4x400m relay
Hannah Adler, Emily McManus, Genevieve Moore, Maggie Whitney - 4x800m relay

Honorable mention selections were:
Megan Gough - 5000m
Hanna Grant - 10,000m
Laikyn Kulman - pole vault

Jumping a 3.95m in the pole vault was Faber, who set a new WHAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships record. That is 0.02 off her personal best this season, which is the second best jump in the NAIA. Kimbrough grabbed her first automatic qualifier of the outdoor season in the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:03.15. The 4x400m relay team also provisionally qualified for the national meet after running a 3:56.57, needing a 3:55.00 for an 'A' standard. Whitney finished with three second team selections after having a busy weekend for the Saints.

Aquinas finished with 14 women's track & field student-athletes on the WHAC All-Academic Team, which are juniors or above in academic standing with a cumulative 3.25 grade point average and have been at AQ for at least one full year. Aquinas' All-Academic honorees are: Rebecca Beltran, Aubrey Doucette, Meghan Douglass, Shekira Edgar, Victoria Faber, Megan Gough, Hanna Grant, Hannah Hamilton, Caroline Jones, Casey Lenon, Hope McGarry-Costello, Emily McManus, Kennedy Pollington, and Grace Sweet.

Lenon was also the AQ representative on the Champions of Character Team, as the Saints player that best represents the five core character values of integrity, respect, responsibility, sportsmanship, and servant leadership.

Aquinas is back in action tomorrow (May 10) at the GVSU Last Chance Meet, beginning at 12:00 PM in Allendale, Michigan.
