Baynes, Diamond Hit Provisional Qualifiers at GVSU Holiday Open

Allendale, Michigan - The women's track & field team ushered in the 2023-24 season with some outstanding performances at the GVSU Holiday Open. The Saints saw a pair of national qualifying marks hit and one new entrant into Aquinas' top five list.

Kaylee Diamond cleared 5-5 3/4 to win the high jump competition. Her jump was a provisional qualifier for the NAIA National Championships and the effort ranks her 3rd All-Time at Aquinas. The  jump has Kaylee tied for seventh on the national performance list. Also recording a provisional qualifying mark was Shaily Baynes, who tied her personal best with a vault of 11-7 3/4. She is currently tied for sixth on the national performance list in the pole vault.

The Saints also received personal best performances from Leah Decker and Lauren Wooer. Decker raced to a time of 8.13 in the 60 meters, while Wooer won her heat of the 800 meters in 2:19.87.

The Saints will return to Grand Valley State after the Christmas holiday to compete in the Bob Eubanks Open on January 13th.
