Muskegon, Michigan - The men's cross country team continues to gain momentum as they are preparing for the championships portion of their schedule. Despite resting ten of their top individuals, the Saints recorded a second place team finish at the MCC Jayhawk Invitational. The meet drew 13 scoring institutions and 184 individuals competed on the University Park Golf Course.
Aquinas was led by the breakthrough performance of
Will VanderBor. VanderBor was the top Saint from start to finish as he completed the 8000 meter course in 25:49 to finish in 6th place overall.
Jaben Bakker,
Shema Reponse, and
Zander Masten secured the next three spots for the Saints. Bakker finished in 7th place with a new personal best of 25:54, while Reponse continues his fantastic freshman season with at 14th place finish (26:05). Fellow East Kentwood grad,
Zander Masten, followed Reponse through the finish chute in a time of 26:07 to place 20th overall. Another freshman,
Charlie Coyle, rounded out the scoring for the Saints as he placed 33rd with a time of 26:33.

Mike Wojciakowski commented, "I was very impressed by this group today. We competed very well as a team and it was great to see the younger guys step up as they assumed scoring roles today. We are showing tremendous depth right now as a team and I very excited to watch this group as we continue to prep for the big meets at the end of the season."
Sam Elder (56th place - 27:07) and
Dominic Comfort (62nd place - 27:14) completed the top seven spots for the Saints on the day.
The Saints will now switch their focus to the NAIA Great Lakes Challenge which will take place on October 26th at Riverside Park in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
