Saints Tally Six Victories, Baynes Hits Auto

Grand Rapids, Michigan - The women's track and field team had a very busy day as the Saints competed in both the GVSU "Big Meet" and the WHAC vs. MIAA Challenge hosted by Aquinas College. The Saints collected six first places finishes at their home meet and received an automatic qualifying performance in the pole vault.

Shaily Baynes hit the "A" standard in the vault as she cleared 11-8 1/2 on home runway. The performance now has her sitting in 12th place on the NAIA Indoor Performance List. Both Maelie Hope and Madison Rempalski doubled up and grabbed a pair of wins each at the Alksnis Athletic and Recreation Building this evening. Hope delivered wins in the 60 meter dash (7.85) and the weight throw (54-2), while Rempalski scored victories in both the Mile (5:24.66) and the 3000 meters (10:57.35).  Other gold medal performances were turned in by Cadence Schultz (600 meters - 1:41.33) and Mallory Bowker (1000 meters - 3:12.80).

At the GVSU Big Meet, Lauren Wooer improved her automatic qualifying time in the 800 meters. Wooer crossed the line in 2:16.34 and is now ranked 11th nationally in her specialty event. Wooer also improved her fifth place time on the Saints All-Time List in the 800. Ronnie McMillan also competed at Grand Valley and recorded a 57.92 in the 400 meters.

The Saints will now prep for next weekend when Aquinas will host the WHAC Indoor Championships on Friday and Saturday afternoon.
