Diamond Dazzles At Davenport

Caledonia, Michigan - The women's track and field team returned to action this weekend at the DU Panther Classic. The two day meet was hosted by Davenport University at the Farmers Insurance Athletic Complex. Despite some windy conditions, the Saints were especially exceptional in the field events where many personal bests were achieved.

Kaylee Diamond headlined the afternoon for the Saints as she won both the high jump and triple jump competitions and placed third in the long jump. Diamond's clearance of 5' 9.75" in the high jump bettered her previous school record by an inch. Her jump currently has her ranked first in the nation. Kaylee also hit the "B" standard in the long jump where she jumped 18' 8" to move her up to #2 on the Aquinas All-Time List.

The Saints day was also highlighted by many other top finishes recorded by the women's track & field team.  Ronnie McMillan won the 400 meters in a time of 58.84, while Shaily Baynes tied for first in the pole vault (11' 10.5").  Kaydence Richardson (40' 6.25") and Maelie Hope (40' 4.25") went 1-2 in the shot put. Hope then led a 1-2-3 sweep for the Saints in the discus as she recorded a toss of 133' 4".  Leah Rohrer (129' 10") placed second and Rebecca Beltran (125' 5") finished in third. The Saints dominance in the women's throws was on full display as they also went 1-2 in the Hammer Throw. Hope won the event with a mark of 153' 10", while Richardson claimed second with a toss of152' 1".

The Saints will look for continued success next weekend at GVSU's Al Owens Classic.
