Hope Hits "A" in Discus at GVSU

Allendale, Michigan - The women's track & field team returned to action this weekend with a two-day meet at Grand Valley State University. Despite windy conditions, the Saints were able to score a national qualifier and finish high in many events at the annual Al Owens Classic.

Maelie Hope turned her "B" to an "A" with a toss of 150' 11" in the discus. Her effort would place her fourth in the invitational section of the event and move her up to #11 on the NAIA performance list.  She also would move up to #3 on the Saints All-Time List in the shot put with a mark of 42' 2.75".  Kaylee Diamond, the reigning WHAC Women's Field Athlete of the Week, claimed two top three performances on Friday afternoon. She would win the high jump with a jump of 5' 5.75" and would place third in the long jump (18' 3.75").  Kaydence Richardson would also tally two top three finishes. On Friday, she would place second in the unseeded section of the shot put with a toss of 39' 8.75". She came back today and placed third in the invitational portion of the hammer throw.
