Diamond, Rempalski Lead Saints to Third Place Finish

Fort Wayne, Indiana - The women's track & field team used a balanced attack to tally 148 points to finish third behind Indiana Tech and Cornerstone.  The Saints would collect four more conference titles to add to the two they won on day one of the championships. Aquinas athletes would also take home the Most Valuable Performer and the Newcomer of the Year Awards.

Kaylee Diamond was flawless in the high jump as she was clean through 5' 8.5" to claim the conference title. She would later add the conference championship in the triple jump where she recorded a mark of 37' 10.75".  The mark provisionally qualifies her for the NAIA Championships and moves her up to #3 on the Saints All-TIme List. Diamond also was named the meets Most Valuable Performer for securing 26 points for the Saints over the two-day championships.

Madison Rempalski will sleep well tonight as the freshman from Grand Rapids recorded 16,500 meters of racing over the two day event. After finishing third in the 10,000 meter yesterday afternoon, she doubled down and came back for more in the 1500 and 5000 meter races. Madison would claim the conference championship in a wild women's 1500 meter race. In the surprise of the meet, Rempalski would sneak ahead of Indiana Tech's Lisa Voyles right at the finish line in a time of 4:52.00. She later would take fourth in the 5000 meters in time of 18:51.55.  Madi would accumulate 21 points at the championships to secure the WHAC Newcomer of the Year Award. She also won the same award during the cross country and indoor track & field season.

The Saints also scored big points in the throwing events.  The Saints would go 1-2-6 in the women's discus and 3-4-5-8 in the shot put.  Maelie Hope would claim the conference crown in the discus with a toss of  150' 0". Rebecca Beltran would finish second with a season best of 134' 7".  Hope would once again lead the Saints in the shot put with a mark of 39' 8" to finish in third. McKenna Buehler (37' 11.5") and Beltran (37' 8") would place 4th and 5th respectively for the Saints.

Lauren Wooer also had a very solid day for the Aquinas. After helping the Saints to a conference title in the 4x800 yesterday, she returned to the track to place 4th in the 1500 (4:52.56) and 5th in the 800 (2:19.77). She then would team up with Cadence Schultz, Ella Koons, and Ronnie McMillan to place 4th in the 4x400 meter relay in a season best time of 4:03.25.  Theresa Judd also contributed in multiple events as she placed 5th in the 100 hurdles (15.09) and 7th in the 400 hurdles (1:11.01).
