Aquinas Hosts Annual John Flaminio Classic

Saints Tally Four First Place Finishes on Friday Night

Grand Rapids, Michigan - The women's track & field team returned to action tonight as the Saints played host to the 4th Annual John Flaminio Classic. Aquinas welcomed Cornerstone, Siena Heights, Cleary, Grace Christian, Concorida, Western Michigan, Muskegon Community College and Southwestern Michigan College to the Alksnis Athletic and Recreation Building. Aquinas tallied four first place finishes and several personal bests on the night.

Shaily Baynes would claim the top spot in the pole vault with a clearance of 11-3 3/4, while Alexis Furgason would win the triple jump with a distance of 31-8 3/4. Lauren Wooer led a trio of Saints trough the finish line en route to a time of 1:40.25 in the 600 meters and Sophia Schrauben won the 60 meter hurdles in a time of 9.45.

The Saints will travel to Allendale next Saturday to compete in the Bob Eubanks Open. The meet will be hosted by Grand Valley State University and the first event will begin at 1:00 pm.
