Allendale, Michigan - The women's track & field team traveled to Grand Valley State University on Saturday afternoon for the annual Bob Eubanks Open. Aquinas saw many outstanding performances and tallied numerous personal bests as the Saints continued to prepare for the WHAC Championships in four weeks.
The women's throws crew highlighted the efforts in the field for Aquinas on this day.
Maelie Hope recorded second place finishes in both the weight throw and the shot put. Hope's marks included a toss of 50'11" in the weight throw and 41'9.75" in the shot.
Robin Long would collect a sixth place finish in the weight throw (47'0.75"), while
Lindsey Strutz placed seventh in the shot put (38'9.75").
Presley Avery would add a matching seventh place finish in the triple jump with a mark of 32'5".
On the track, the women's middle distance athletes provided the spark for the Saints attack.
Cadence Schultz would place fifth in the 600 meters with a new personal best of 1:39.95. In the 800 meters, the Saints would place two within the top ten as both
Ella Koons and
Amber Koole recorded personal bests. Koons crossed in 2:18.34 to place sixth, while Koole was ninth in a time of 2:19.13. The threesome would team up with
Lauren Wooer in the 4x400 meter relay to place fifth in a time of 4:06.67.
Aquinas will return to action on Friday as the Saints host the Grand Rapids Sports Hall of Fame Classic at the Alksnis Athletic and Recreation Building. The meet will begin at 5 p.m.
