GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Each week during the academic year, Aquinas College Athletic Communications celebrates excellence across campus by naming the Saints of the Week — student-athletes and staff who embody what it means to be "All In for Aquinas."
For October 6–13, 2025, three exceptional Saints stood out: Amelia Edens (Women's Swim & Dive), Evan Doan (Men's Hockey & Lacrosse), and Lindsey Hansen (Director of Admissions).

Female Saint of the Week: Amelia Edens (Women's Swim & Dive)

When it comes to determination and drive, junior Amelia Edens has set the standard for the Aquinas swim program. The Whiteland, Indiana native posted impressive results this past weekend, finishing fourth in both the 100 Fly (1:00.43) and 100 Back (1:01.25) in a stacked invitational field — coming just fractions of a second from breaking the one-minute barrier.

Outside the pool, the Counseling Psychology major boasts a 3.91 cumulative GPA and an already-storied Aquinas résumé. A two-time NAIA Second Team All-American, multiple-time All-Conference honoree, and holder of eight school records (four individual, four relay), Edens continues to anchor the Saints as both a performer and leader.

"Amelia has been a rock for the women's team with her positive attitude, work ethic and commitment to growing our team," said Head Coach Kristy Hepp. "Not only is she an incredibly talented athlete, but she's a great leader with a strong faith that guides her actions."

A team captain in both high school and college, Edens is known for her balance of intensity and humility — whether she's training, studying, or preparing for her next half-marathon.

Male Saint of the Week: Evan Doan (Men's Hockey & Lacrosse)

When you talk about true Saints, Evan Doan's name always seems to come up. The Evansville, Indiana native is a rare two-sport athlete, competing for both Aquinas Men's Hockey and Men's Lacrosse, while carrying a 3.63 GPA as a Clinical Exercise Science major with concentrations in Physical Therapy and Athletic Training and a minor in Athletic Coaching.

Doan is in his tenth year of competitive play and has quickly earned a reputation for his reliability and character. A four-year varsity athlete at William Henry Harrison High School, he was a two-time Team MVP, First Team All-Conference, and Honorable Mention All-Conference selection — but what sets him apart is how he carries himself off the ice and field.

Whether it's meeting with professors to help new students transition to college life or supporting his teammates with quiet leadership, Doan leads by example.

"Evan's play has continued to elevate since the start of the season," said Head Hockey Coach Brandon Rozema. "He's been extremely reliable in the faceoff circle and a key part of our penalty kill. Beyond what he brings on the ice, Evan is an outstanding representative of Aquinas — both as a person and as a citizen in our community. We're very proud of him and thrilled to see him earn this honor."

Men's Lacrosse Head Coach Peter Treppa echoed the sentiment: "Evan is the kind of student-athlete every coach hopes to have. He's dedicated, coachable, and constantly striving to get better on the field, in the classroom, and within the community. He's a great teammate who leads by example and makes everyone around him better."

And for the record, he's also an avid golfer who insists that Die Hard is the greatest Christmas movie ever made. Finally, October 15 we need to wish Evan a Happy Birthday!

Saint Support Superstar: Lindsey Hansen (Director of Admissions)

When it comes to dedication, Lindsey Hansen sets the bar. A proud Aquinas alumna (Class of 2012) and the College's Director of Admissions, Hansen has long been one of the first faces new students see — and few represent Aquinas' heart and hospitality better.

Known for her warmth, generosity, and tireless work ethic, Hansen regularly goes above and beyond for students, faculty, and staff alike. That dedication was on display again this past weekend when she came in on a Sunday afternoon to meet with a prospective student who had driven all the way from South Dakota — ensuring the family didn't have to extend their stay just to visit campus.

"Lindsey is the kind of person who makes Aquinas special," said Women's Hockey Head Coach Emma Hoch. "She met with a future Saint on Sunday — outside of her normal hours — with a smile on her face like it was no big deal. That's just who she is. She truly cares about Aquinas and our student-athletes, and her commitment is a perfect example of why it's great to be a Saint."

Director of Athletics Damon Bouwkamp added, "Lindsey is someone who truly embodies what it means to be 'All In for Aquinas.' She goes above and beyond for our student-athletes and coaches, often in ways that go unseen but never unnoticed. Her dedication, positivity, and genuine care make her an incredible partner to work with and an even better friend. We're truly fortunate to have her as part of the Saints family."

Her energy, compassion, and willingness to serve others capture the very essence of the Saints spirit.
