Schrauben Leads Saints at Davenport

Caledonia, Michigan - The women's track and field team returned to action this past weekend at the DU Panther Classic. The two day meet was hosted by Davenport University at the Farmers Insurance Athletic Complex. Under ideal conditions, the Saints were able to establish many personal bests and record a number of top five finishes.

Sophia Schrauben provided a pair of first place finishes for Aquinas. The freshman from Portland, Michigan claimed the top spot in the 100 meter hurdles in a time of 15.46. She would return to the track later in the meet and win the 400 meter hurdles. Sophia's time of 1:06.37 established herself as the #5 All-Time 400 meter hurdler in AQ history. Her timed bumped off the previous #5, which was held by Heather Montie since the late 90's.

The women's middle distance group flexed their muscles as they had some very strong performances. Madison Rempalski (4:46.40), Lauren Wooer (4:56.33), and Cadence Schultz (4:56.63) went 2-3-4 in the women's 1500 meter, while Amber Koole placed fourth in the 400 meters (59.43).  Wooer (2:20.92) and Rempalski (2:24. 83) would later go 3-4 in the 800 meters.  Wooer, Koole, and Scultz would team up with Ella Koons to win the 4x400 meter relay in a time of 4:09.70. Maelie Hope would run a 12.67 in the 100 meters to place fourth.

Alexis Furgason starred for the Saints in the field events as she recorded lifetime bests in the high jump and the long jump. Lexi would place second in the long jump (17-4) and third in the high jump (5-3.25). She also would add a third place finish in the triple jump (32-3.5).  Fellow jumper, Presley Avery also had a great day as she set personal bests in the triple jump and the high jump. Avery's mark in the triple was 33-10.25 and she cleared 4-9.5 in the high jump.

The Saints will look for continued success next weekend at GVSU's Al Owens Classic.
