Saints Find Success at GVSU/Louisville

Grand Rapids, Michigan - The women's track & field team returned to action this weekend with a pair of meets at Grand Valley State University and the University of Louisville. The Saints continue to impress as they head into the championship portion of their schedule. The Saints were able to score a school record, some top five All-TIme performances and many personal bests at their respective meets this weekend.

Highlighting the weekend was Lindsey Strutz's performance in the Heptathlon at the University of Louisville. Lindsey tallied 4,540 points over the two days of competition to establish the new standard in that event for Aquinas College. Strutz was solid in day one as she competed in the 100 hurdles, high jump, shot put and 200 meters. She had an even better day two as she continued to tally big scores in the long jump, javelin, and the 800 meters. Her mark of 126-9 in the the javelin is the #2 All-Time at Aquinas College. Lindsey's point total ranks her 9th in the NAIA (the top 16 will qualify for the NAIA National Championships).

At GVSU, Madison Rempalski lowered her personal best by 36 seconds in the 5000 meters to establish the #4 All-Time mark at Aquinas College. Her time of 17:33.83 moved her in front of Britta Patterson and Janie Noah.  Other noteworthy performances were turned in by the middle distance specialists. Ella Koons had a major breakthrough in the 1500 meters as she raced to a career best of 4:46.97. Not to be out done was Lauren Wooer in the 800 meters with a lifetime best of 2:15.99.  The Saints sprinters also had a strong meet as Isabel Spearing (12.60), Kariesue Taghon (12.73/26.93), and Leah Decker (12.87/26.58) all had season bests.

Aquinas will return to action this week as the Saints will compete at the WHAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships hosted by Siena Heights in Adrian.
