Joliet, Illinois - The women's track and field team had one last opportunity to compete before the focus switches to the NAIA Outdoor National Championships next week. The Saints competed at the University of St. Francis (Illinois) over the last two days. Aquinas added a national qualifier, an update to the top five list, and many season and lifetime bests in Joliet, Illinois.
The meet was highlighted by
Madison Rempalski's effort in the 5000 meters. Madi clocked a new personal best of 17:20.75 to hit the provisional qualifier for the National Championships. The time also improved her #4 standing on the Saints All-TIme List. The women's 800 meters was also a strong event for AQ as three Saints posted lifetime bests.
Lauren Wooer (2:15.55),
Ella Koons (2:16.11), and
Amber Koole (2:18.73) all eclipsed their previous best in the the two lap sprint.
Maelie Hope placed second in the discus with a toss of 142-10, while
Isabel Spearing saved her best for last. Spearing posted career bests in the 100 meters (12.42) and the 200 meters (25.55) in her final races in an Aquinas uniform.
The Saints will now turn their attention to the NAIA Outdoor Track & Field National Championships in Marion, Indiana. Competition at the Championships is slated to begin on May 21st.
