Grand Rapids, Mich. — Success in the WHAC is built on collective effort, especially when the challenge comes on the road. That reality was put to the test Saturday as Aquinas Women's Basketball embarked on its longest conference travel trip of the season, heading to Ohio with the understanding that everyone would need to step up. The Saints rose to the occasion, delivering a complete team performance that reinforced why Aquinas remains firmly positioned among the WHAC's top four.
Aquinas 69, UNOH 64
The Saints set the tone early, matching the Racers basket for basket in a tightly contested first quarter that ended tied at 16. Aquinas found its rhythm in the second period, tightening defensively and forcing empty possessions while the offense began to flow. Isabel Reemsnyder sparked the run with efficient scoring, while Paige Guernsey facilitated and pushed the tempo as the Saints built a 35–23 halftime advantage.
Aquinas continued to control the game coming out of the break, extending the lead to as many as 17 midway through the third quarter behind strong play in the paint from Emily Cline and steady shooting from Rhema Dozier. Hannah Gillette provided an energy boost off the bench, knocking down timely shots and helping the Saints weather a brief UNOH surge late in the third. Despite a push from the Racers to close the gap in the fourth quarter, Aquinas remained composed down the stretch.
Dozier led the Saints with 15 points, knocking down three triples and converting at the free-throw line late to help seal the win. Reemsnyder added 15 points of her own on efficient shooting, while Cline posted a strong all-around performance with 12 points and a game-high 13 rebounds. Gillette finished with 13 points off the bench, continuing a balanced scoring effort that saw five Saints reach double figures or near it. Guernsey filled the stat sheet with nine assists and five rebounds, while Hope Kanouse and Brynn Reams contributed defensively as Aquinas closed out the road victory.
Coach's Comments
After the game, Head Coach Brian Morris emphasized the importance of depth and togetherness in the win:
"This was a total team effort. On the road, against a conference opponent, you're not going to win unless everyone is ready to contribute in their role. I was proud of how this group stayed connected, trusted each other, and made the plays we needed down the stretch."
