Grand Rapids, MI - In the third edition of the USTFCCCA NAIA Women's Indoor Track & Field Ratings, the Aquinas College women slipped two spots to #9 in the latest rating. After a successful meet this past weekend at GVSU, the Saints accumulated 91.34 points in the computer generated rating.
Doane currently holds the top spot with 180.98 points, while fellow WHAC competitor Indiana Tech checks in at #7 with 102.58 points. Other WHAC institutions ranked in the top 30 include: Madonna (16th), Cornerstone (17th), and Siena Heights (26th).
The Saints feature many standout athletes who are highly ranked on the national performance list.
Lindsey Strutz currently is ranked second in the pentathlon with 3,553 points. While
Maelie Hope cracks the top eleven in two different events. Hope is ranked second in the weight throw (61-4) and eleventh in the shot put (44-6 1/4). Both
Alexis Furgason and the women's 4x800 meter relay are seeded sixth on the national performance list. Furgason in the high jump (5-6 1/2), while the middle distance relay (9:25..49) holds the #6 spot in one of the NAIA's marquee events.
Madison Rempalski also adds to the Saints point total in the Mile (9th) and 3,000 meters (10th).
The Saints will look to continue to their impressive indoor season when they host the WHAC vs. MIAA meet on Friday and then travel to Grand Valley State on Saturday to compete in the Distance Medley Relay.
